Privacy Policy

What Zentty collects and what it doesn't. Short version: the app sends nothing about how you work, and crash reports are opt-in.

Last updated May 23, 2026.

The short version

Zentty is built to stay out of your way, and that includes your data. The app does not collect usage data, telemetry, or analytics. Nothing about what you type, run, or open ever leaves your machine automatically. The only thing that is ever sent is a crash report, and only if you choose to send it after a crash.

Zentty is published by Zenjoy BV, based in Leuven, Belgium. This policy covers both the Zentty Mac app and this website.

The Zentty app

Zentty runs entirely on your Mac. Your shells, panes, worklanes, command history, working directories, and any agent activity stay local. We have no servers that receive this information, and the app makes no background requests to report on how you use it.

  • No accounts, sign-in, or licence keys.
  • No usage analytics or behavioural tracking.
  • No advertising or third-party trackers.

Crash reports

If Zentty crashes, it can prepare a crash report to help us fix the problem. This is always opt-in: nothing is sent unless you explicitly choose to send it. A crash report contains technical diagnostics such as the stack trace, app version, and macOS version. It does not include the contents of your terminal sessions.

Software updates

Zentty checks for updates using Sparkle, the standard macOS update framework. To do so it requests a release feed hosted on our update server and GitHub. Like any download, that request reveals your IP address and the app version you are running to the host serving the file. No other information is attached, and you can disable automatic update checks in Settings.

This website

We use Plausible Analytics, self-hosted by Zenjoy, to understand aggregate traffic on zentty.org. Plausible is privacy-first: it sets no cookies, collects no personal data, and does not track you across sites. All metrics are aggregated and cannot be used to identify you.

Third parties

Downloads, source code, and issue tracking are hosted on GitHub, which has its own privacy statement. When you download Zentty or open an issue, you interact with GitHub directly under their terms.

Your rights and contact

Because Zentty collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to look up, export, or delete on your behalf. If you have a privacy question or believe something here is unclear, please get in touch. If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
